Lea's Marble Runby ~Keldarak

Artisan Crafts / Folding & Papercraft

This is a marble run I've created for a little girl in the neighbourhood. It's actually still wating for her as the girl is a baby at the moment, but I am sure she'll have fun to play with it in a year or something.

Material I used:
- thick carboard for the baseplate and the bearings
- not-so-thick cardboard for the course
- watercolor
- tissue paper for the sun and to decorate the baseplate
- glue to stick all of it together and some kind of 'special glue' which is transparent when dry
- cotton for the clouds
- silver glitter for the lettering (not quite visible here) and the stars on the baseplate
- a tennis ball to create the moon
- some kitchen roll tubes for the tunnels
- lots of paper-mâché for the sun, the moon and the earth (in the left background)

Immaterial materials

I used:
- tons of patience
- some months to complete the task
- refreshing my geometry-knowledge to a) draw the stars accurately with a pair of compasses and a set square and b) construct a small cubic box for the marbles that came with the whole thing

WOW keldarak this is amazing, i remember many years ago i tryed to make a marble run it turned out quite good but nothing like this. sorry i would have commented and fav'ed this sooner its just i haven't been on DA for a couple of months. halloween is fast approching will you be carving works of art out of pumkins this year?

Well I'll try to be carving some pumpkins this year, but I am not entirely sure if and how much time I'll have left. Unfortunately, I am quite sure that this year's carvings will in no aspect come close to the Jack Sparrow-carving from three years ago
